Holly - Priority Films
Starring Ron Livingston, Chris Penn, Virginie Ledoyen, Udo Kier and Thuy Ngoyen

Shot on location in Cambodia, including many scenes in actual brothels in the notorious red light district of Phnom Penh, HOLLY is a captivating, touching and emotional experience. Patrick (Ron Livingston), an American card shark and dealer of stolen artifacts, has been 'comfortably numb' in Cambodia for years, when he encounters Holly (Thuy Nguyen), a 12-year-old Vietnamese girl, in the K11 red light village. The girl has been sold by her impoverished family and smuggled across the border to work as a prostitute. Holly's virginity makes her a lucrative prize, and when she is sold to a child trafficker, Patrick embarks on a frantic search through both the beautiful and sordid faces of the country, in an attempt to bring her to safety.

Harsh, yet poetic, this feature forms part of the 'K-11' Project, dedicated to raising awareness of the epidemic of child trafficking and the sex slavery trade through several film projects. The film's producers endured substantial hardships in order to be able to shoot in Cambodia and have also founded the RedLight Children Campaign, which is a worldwide grassroots initiative generating conscious concern and inspiring immediate action against child sexploitation. Destiny - New Opportunities for Human Trafficking Survivors

The Destiny Production Center in Calcutta, India is TEN's newest initiative to help survivors become fully independent, and to slavery-proof them and their children into the future.

One of the biggest problems confronting the shelters that rehabilitate survivors is that the survivors have no Destiny Women at Workplace to go. They are often not welcome back in their own community, especially if they were sold into prostitution. Typically they were trafficked at a young age (average 11-12yrs) and have never lived independently. This not only means they don’t have good options for the survivors, but it also means that the shelters can't free up space to take in newly rescued survivors.

To assist survivors in reintegration, this summer, The Emancipation Network, in partnership with T.E.N. Charities and three of our shelter partner organizations, opened the doors of the Destiny Production Center in Calcutta, India. The Destiny Center is housed in a rented 3-story house in the Park Circle neighborhood of Calcutta. Calcutta is a city of over 13 million people, near the Nepal border in Northwest India. Poverty and human trafficking are endemic there, but there are amazing anti-trafficking NGOs that we partner with in Calcutta.

Rescued survivors who have received several years of aftercare, education, and training at our partner shelters, will now be able to work at the new production center, and support themselves independently for the first time in their lives.

This is truly the last stop on these young womens' Underground Railroad journey. We need help to maintain this program.

TEN Charities has a policy of protecting survivors privacy by not identifying specific identities with photos or specific stories. Therefore these case histories are representative of many women in our programs and are not specific to the individuals pictured here. All names have been changed.
